Students learn how to bring inanimate objects to life as they share ideas, create worlds and simulate motion using toys, cut-out puppets or any other object they can find. They explore how image sequencing, incremental movement and frame rate impact the smoothness of stop motion animation. This class gives students the tools they need to make their own animated movies using animation software. This after school program keeps kids busy with fun tennis games after school. Sessions typically start right after school and are typically held in school gyms. Our curriculum combines a blend of fun activities - both "on-screen" and “off-screen" - to keep students engaged and excited about coding. This class will give students a strong foundation on coding basics, such as loops and conditionals, that can be built upon in our other classes. In this fun after-school class, BEGINNERS will be introduced to the core concepts of computer programming, including loops, conditionals and variables. INTERMEDIATE students will build on their previous knowledge and be introduced to more advanced concepts, such as nested conditionals and functions with parameters. Using the Scratch development environment, you will learn how to create a variety of programs, from simple animations to multi-level games. Puppets From Around the World: Students build amazing, colorful puppets of their own design; creating whatever kind of creature they desire out of reused materials. They choose from three styles of puppetry from around the world—a Japanese Bunraku, which ranges in size from two-and-a-half to four-feet tall or more, a Chinese Rod puppet, made with true-to-life features and raised overhead at the top of a stick, or an Indonesian Shadow Puppet. Students will learn how to take their favorite myths, fables, or books and transform them into live theater. Learning ukulele and guitar in a group setting offers a unique opportunity to build skills in musicianship and allows students to learn from not only the teacher, but each other. It encourages active listening and connection through rhythm and sound. This method foster's creativity, exposure to multicultural genres and offers an interactive way of learning.
